Material we Use And Why

The answer is simple - Cords Club was designed for people with material sensitivity and/or allergies so we only use the best materials so that YOU can wear and enjoy your jewelry.

Implant Grade Titanium
We use implant grade titanium because it’s super lightweight, hypoallergenic, and perfect for sensitive ears. It’s a durable metal that resists tarnish and keeps your ears comfy all day, every day. Less than 1% of the population has a titanium sensitivity, making it a great option for those with other metal allergies.

Stainless Steel
Our stainless steel components are strong, corrosion-resistant, and low-maintenance. This means your earrings stay shiny and sturdy even with everyday wear.

18k Gold PVD Plating
We add 18k gold plating for a rich, luxurious look that lasts. Our high-quality PVD plating resists fading and gives your earrings that beautiful golden look without breaking the bank. PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) plating is used in a wide range of industries because of its extreme durability, corrosion-resistance, and high quality. PVD is the same technology trusted to coat aerospace parts, performance tools, and luxury watches. If it can hold up in space and under a drill press, it can definitely handle your everyday adventures.

Phthalate-Free Enamel
For our colorful Cutie Club designs, we use phthalate-free enamel to create vibrant, safe, and long-lasting colors. The enamel we use is gentle on your skin and made to keep up with your active lifestyle.

Materials We Don't Use And Why

Materials We Don't Use And Why

Nickel

Nickel is one of the most common causes of allergic reactions in earrings. We don't use it because your ears deserve better than redness, itching, and irritation.

Phthalate-based enamels
Many cheap enamels contain phthalates, which can be harsh on skin. We say no to that and use only phthalate-free enamel on the colorful styles found in our Cutie Club line.

Low-cost base metals (like brass, copper, or mystery alloys)
These metals may be cheap and affordable, but they oxidize fast and can leave green marks. Many low-quality earrings are made with unregulated metal mixes that can break down, tarnish, or irritate skin. We guarantee that our pieces will never turn your skin green.

Say Goodbye to "Ear"-ritation

Itchy ears? Redness? A piercing that just won’t heal for ages? These are often signs of a metal allergy or sensitivity (most commonly to nickel or other cheap metal alloys.)

At Cords Club, we only use safe, hypoallergenic materials that keep ears happy. That means no mystery metals, no irritation, and no sacrificing style for comfort.

Our earrings are designed to look amazing and feel comfortable. If you’ve been struggling with irritation, itchiness, or discomfort, it's time to upgrade your earrings.

If you decide to try our jewelry and your ears aren't 100% obsessed, don't worry! We'll help with a quick and easy return! (Your ears are going to love it, though.)

How Should I Care For My Jewelry?

Properly caring for your jewelry helps it last longer, look better, and stay safe for your skin—especially when you’re wearing it 24/7. Here are a few easy ways to keep your Cords Club pieces in top shape:

Clean them regularly with gentle soap and warm water or a saline solution, especially if you wear them daily—this helps prevent buildup and keeps your skin happy. Be sure to clean your ears and piercings regularly, as well.

Store them safely in your Cords Club Travel Palette or and soft travel palette pouch when you’re not wearing them to avoid scratching, bending, breaking, or losing pieces.

Check that your flat backs and hoops are secure every few days. Gently tightening them ensures they stay in place and don’t loosen over time. See our tips, tricks, & tutorial videos for tutorials on how to properly secure your flat back studs and hoops!

Jewelry Made for Everyday Activities

Jewelry Made for Everyday Activities

Whether you’re sweating it out at the gym, jumping into the ocean, or crashing into bed after a long day, your earrings need to keep up with you. Here’s how to keep your Cords Club stack secure, clean, and comfortable, no matter where the day (or night) takes you:

Choose flat backs and hoops for everyday wear — If secured properly, they will stay in and won’t poke, fall out, or snag while you're sleeping, running, doing yoga, etc.

Rinse and refresh after sweat or swim — Gently clean your earrings with mild soap and water after workouts or swims to prevent buildup and keep your skin happy.

Keep a mini organizer in your bag — If you ever need to pop earrings out mid-day (like before a sports practice), store them safely instead of tossing them in a random pocket so they don't get scratched or lost.

What Are Flat Back Studs?

Flat back studs are earrings designed with a smooth, flat disc that rests against the back of the ear, making them perfect for all-day wear. They're much more comfortable than other earring options

Unlike traditional earrings with pointed posts and butterfly backs, our flat back studs use a secure push-pin post that won't poke.

Our flat back studs are perfect for sensitive ears and healed piercings, and anyone who loves stylish and comfortable earrings can wear them!

Why Switch to Cords Club's Flat Back Earrings?

Enhanced Comfort for Long-term Wear: Flat back studs lay flush against the ear, offering a smooth and comfortable fit that doesn’t poke or press into the side of your head. They're perfect for sleeping, wearing with headphones, or even during physical activities like swimming or running.

Reduced Irritation for Sensitive Ears: Traditional earring backs (like the butterfly back) can cause discomfort or irritation, especially for people with sensitive skin or allergies. Flat back studs from Cords Club are made from either implant grade titanium (one of the safest metals for sensitive skin) or surgical steel. Double check each item description for metal details!

Sleek and Discreet: Our flat back studs offer a modern, minimalistic look that’s subtle, yet stylish. They're perfect for those who want to wear jewelry, whether you have single or multiple piercings, without the fuss of needing to switch them out frequently.

Not all Flat Backs are Created Equal: Unlike other flat back studs that need to be twisted to put them on or remove them, ours can be put on with a quick press of the front piece into the back post that goes through your piercing.

How to Use Your Flat Back Studs

Getting the tension right keeps your earrings secure so they don’t come apart or get lost. Do this quick check before you put them on, every time.

Start with a tension check: Click the front pin in and out of the back post. It should feel snug-not too loose.

Pull the pieces apart: Separate the decorative front from the back post.

Insert the back post: From behind your ear, guide the post through your piercing.

Attach the front: Push the decorative front pin into the post until you feel or hear a click.

Secure-fit test: Give a gentle tug-your earring should feel snug and secure.

That's it! With a quick tension check, your flat backs stay comfy and secure for sleep, workouts, and everyday wear.

FAQ

I just got an ear piercing.  How do I clean it?

Gently cleanse around the piercing using sterile saline solution (or a piercing aftercare spray) with a Q tip. Don't use harsh chemicals like alcohol or hydrogen peroxide, as they can irritate healing skin. When in doubt, double check with your piercer.

How do I know if I'm having an allergic reaction to other earrings?

If you're having an allergic reaction to an earring, you might notice itching, redness, swelling, or a burning sensation around the piercing. The skin may become dry, flaky, or irritated, and you could see some discharge. These symptoms usually show up while wearing earrings made with metals like nickel, which is a common allergen.

How do I treat an allergic reaction to an earring?

If you think you're having a reaction, remove the earrings and gently clean the area with saline or mild soap and water. Switch to hypoallergenic materials like titanium or surgical steel to avoid further irritation. All Cords Club earrings are made of these materials - check each product description for item-specific information.

What materials do you use in your earrings?

All materials are listed in each product's item description. We use stainless steel, surgical steel, and implant grade titanium for our jewelry. These materials are waterproof and won't turn your skin green.  Plus, every product is backed by our 365-Day Product Quality Guarantee!
