One of our most popular designs, now in larger size! Featuring a prong-set opal gem, this flat back stud is classic staple for your ear stack. It's great in a first or second piercing, but can work elsewhere, like a tragus or shen men, depending on your anatomy.
This listing is for a single ASTM F136 implant grade titanium push-pin flat back stud. Note that the nature of prong settings can make them catch on hair or fibers.
Measurements:
- 18 GA (1mm)
- Post is 1/4 inch (6mm) in length, with a 4mm disc on back.
- Approx. diameter of gem is 4mm.
- Refer to listing images to get an idea of the size of the stud on-ear. Check your own ear measurement before ordering
Materials: 18K PVD Gold Plated, ASTM-F136 Titanium, ASTM-F136 Titanium, synthetic opal
Care: Water and tarnish proof with proper care. If exposed to salt water, chlorine, or lotions/perfumes, rinse off with cool-warm water and gently dry. When not wearing, store in a dry, cool place. Do not pull, twist, or tug on your jewelry.
CARE
Soak your studs in warm water with a few drops of dish soap for about 15 minutes. Gently clean with a soft cloth and store safely.

What size are the flat back earrings?
Cords Club's Flat Backs are 18 gauge and come with a 6mm long Flat Back post.
A 6mm post is a great length for most people, so we'd recommend starting there! We do also have a range of other sizes available and sold separately. If you have questions about sizing, we'd love to help!
Are your flat backs sold individually? Or in pairs?

Do I need to buy the flat back applicator, too?
Our Flat Back Applicator is a great tool but it's not necessary! The Flat Back Applicator is designed to help make the process of changing your flat backs faster and easier, but you can definitely change your earrings without one. The choice is totally up to you!

I don’t know about anyone else, but my shoulder length hair is constantly getting caught in the prongs of these earrings. Aside from that, these studs are the perfect size and have a nice iridescence to the light, showing off different colors.

I got these 4mm opal studs for my main lobe piercing to fill out a trio of opal earrings in a triangle configuration. They are a good size for the main lobe, especially when paired with the Tortuga opal stud and the micro opal stud. The prongs add a little gold at the front and they are plenty sparkly and iridescent for a small opal earring.
